Should onions be stored in the refrigerator? What about lemons? Do avocados ripen faster in the light? This article tells you all you need to know to better preserve your food.

Every time you return from grocery shopping, you hesitate. Do potatoes have to stay outside or be put in the fridge? And what about strawberries, which lose all their taste in a cool area, but rot too quickly outside? These are common dilemmas that usually result in “everything goes to the refrigerator and we’ll see”.

STORE YOUR FRUITS AND VEGETABLES properly TO AVOID WASTAGE

To help you throw less food out, and to take advantage of fruits and vegetables that are better in terms of their taste and health benefits, here is what the specialists recommend for better preservation of vegetables. Discover what to stack in the refrigerator and what to leave outside, as well as practical advice to maintain your fridge and optimize freezing. For example, if you plan to freeze fruits and vegetables, it is better to do it immediately after purchase, after plunging them for 1 to 5 minutes into the boiling water to protect their nutritional and sanitary qualities. Expiry dates are given for information purposes only. If a fruit or a vegetable appears good and edible, don’t hesitate to consume it, and vice versa; throw those that seem rotten.

Finally, don’t forget to rinse your fruits and vegetables before consumption in order to remove any pesticide residue!
