Your eyes are looking dull and tired? Here’s the expert advice on how to bring back the sparkle using a few makeup tricks.

Tips from Patrick Lorentz, Senior Makeup Artist  at Estee Lauder.

DON’T

– Do not apply light and iridescent colours under the brow bone. The light hues on top tend to add wright and empathise the dark hollows under the eyes. If you put light colours under the eyebrows, the eyes look even more elusive and less defined.

– Do not go for smoky eyes.

– Do not apply thick strokes of eyeliner. When the line is too wide, it further dims the eyes.

– Do not put anything on the edge of your lashes.

– Avoid applying Kohl inside the eye as it also has a tendency to highlight the dark circles.

DO

– Use a highlighter on the eyelids.

– If you have enough space – that is to say, if your eyebrows are highly placed – you can use a dark colour on the arch like a banana that is fading a bit. Gray, black, blue … it will help minimize the space and focus on the gaze.

– Always draw a fine and thin line with the eyeliner or pencil.

– Be generous with the lengthening mascara! By giving the length through the eyelashes, the eyes appear less shrunk and more illuminated.

– Before starting the eye makeup, brighten the area as much as possible a concealer or a light pen.
