Amnesty International hits hard with a new campaign that denounces the use of torture in the world. Its ambassadors? Iggy Pop, Karl Lagerfeld and the Dalai Lama.

In just a few hours, nearly 6,000 people have shared on Facebook the visuals that Amnesty International revealed yesterday. Torture, it is not just in movies. Every day, and in all regions of the world, these horrors are a reality for thousands of men, women and children.

These shocking images are part of the global campaign Stop Torture. Launched last May, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Convention against Torture, it aims to protect the citizens of the world against torture. In 1984, a treaty was requested by the UN which requires from each country an exemplary commitment in fighting against all forms of torture between its borders.

Amnesty International regularly creates a buzz around its campaigns which are particularly inventive, as in Belgium last week. We’ve included some images in the slideshow above, showing the most significant campaigns of this NGO.
