Hot Weather: How to wear black in the summer?
Got a penchant for black? We’ve got 28 looks to cover you during this sweltering season.
Black is the new black. Honestly, the colour is chic, timeless and elegant. Plus, it does that wonderful thing where it makes us look slimmer. Most women love to wear it in the evenings, when the occasion calls for something more formal. Unfortunately, black is less amenable to hot and humid days, and we tend to prefer wearing colours that are more refreshing and cooling for the daytime weather, such as white and pastels. What if we told you that wearing black in summery weather can still keep you cool?
HOW TO WEAR BLACK IN SUMMER
Look for light and airy material
Obviously, you’ll want to ditch the coarse mesh, woollen, velvet and thick fabrics. Replace them with lightweight cottons, chiffon, and other vaporous materials that allow you to play on transparency. This allows your skin to breathe, especially in hot weather. Try not to use synthetic fibres.
The art of the cut
Avoid pieces that hinder your body such as tight-fitting tops and long sleeves. The more comfortable you feel in your clothes, the better. Pick items that are cut in such a way that makes the clothing fluid and airy. Halters, split skirts, crop tops, bare shoulders – anything that shows a little skin is good for hot weather.
Pick accessories to match your dark look
You can choose to adorn yourself with some summery accessories such as flat sandals, raffia baskets, jewellery and even a wide-brimmed hat for that hippie chick look.
