For the Cocktail Lovers: Malaysia just welcomed its first ever cocktail truck

Meet Britney – Malaysia’s first ever mobile cocktail truck!

Food trucks selling your typical burgers and taco fare are, admittedly, no longer a novelty in Malaysia. But a cocktail truck? That’s where it gets interesting.

Launched just this November, KL Scenarium (KLS) introduced Malaysia’s first ever cocktail truck. Named Britney (yes – after the pop icon herself), the 18-foot truck is the brainchild of cocktail enthusiasts, Ee-Lyn Tan and Vimal Kumar, who plan to revolutionise the party and events scene in Kuala Lumpur.

“Cocktails are about craft – you need the right ingredients, the proper methods,” Vimal, who runs his own tech company, shares. “A lot of events have now moved out of hotels and into dedicated event spaces. And at many of these, the space is great, the food is amazing – but then the drinks, just lacking. Boring.”

This is where Britney comes in. Observing a gap in the market, where they noticed a growing trend to invite food trucks for events but a somewhat blase drinks options, they felt that a cocktail truck offering bespoke cocktails will fill that niche.

Helmed by bartender Pidot Fey, who is know KLS’ head mixologist, the cocktail truck currently has a pretty decent menu of bespoke cocktails that include classics like the Margaritas and Mojitos to concoctions like the Tealantro, the boozy version of the quintessentially Malaysian Teh O Ais Limau)

Unfortunately, the cocktail truck is only available for private events at the moment. But hey, with the holiday season coming up, it’s definitely something worth keeping in mind for the next time you’re hosting a party or event!
