Italian cuisine is, of course, impeccable. Italian desserts? To die for. Now, setting aside our all-time favourite tiramisu, we can safely say that the simple yet delicious Italian-style ice cream, a.k.a. gelato, is indeed a gorgeous treat meant to be enjoyed on a hot summer day. Thankfully, almost every day in KL is “hot”, which means every day in KL is ice cream day!

Now, as gelato is essentially ice cream, you’d think it would be high in fat. On the contrary, gelato is made with a lower proportion of cream and eggs (sometimes no eggs at all) and a higher proportion of milk, which means it has a lower content of fat. And because it is churned at a much slower rate, what you get is a denser concoction with a soft, elastic texture, unlike the hard icy texture you get with regular ice cream.
