Lonely Planet reveals the best destinations in Asia to connect with your emotions.

India

Traveling to “reconnect with your emotions” is certainly not a new idea – especially if the sheer number of travel-related poetry, such as the likes of Robert Frost, counts for anything.

Published this October, the Lonely Planet’s The Place to Be shares where you should go if you want to connect with a particular emotion. Each chapter in the book explores a single feeling – from happiness to tranquility, or awe to enlightenment – and outlines 20 travel destinations for each emotion and state of mind. The writers also into detail on the best times to visit, how to get there, and the best routes to discover these feelings for yourself.

Passionate India and Inspirational Bhutan

Countries in Asia are reflected in the book, which include Bhutan touted to be the best place for inspiration, Hong Kong for adventure and Ubud in Indonesia for awe and fulfilment. India alone has a whole slew of emotional experiences it can offer, with its diverse states; its city Shimla is the place to be for serenity, while Agra and Madhya Pradesh are said to ignite passion among travellers.
