Education is key
While playing in the fluffy snow without gloves on may sound fun, the aftereffects can be startling, so warn them of the dangers of the snow… even if it looks super inviting. More than that, learn how to identify frostbite and how to deal with frostbite. So, on the off-chance that it happens, you’re prepared.

Don’t forget the sunscreen
It’s easy to think that just because temperatures dip into the colder regions, it means that the sun is no longer there. Not true! Snow reflects the sunlight strongly, which means you are as susceptible to burning much like you would elsewhere. So, grab that SPF bottle and ensure your child is protected from the harmful UV rays.

Layer, layers, layers!
We cannot emphasise this enough. Not only is getting frostbite a worrying thing, children can easily overheat from being bundled up too much. While layering might be more of a hassle, this is ultimately the best way of doing things. Constantly regulate them to ensure they aren’t getting too hot or too cold, so they can have a ball of a time!

Be selective when choosing their clothing
Don’t forget a hat or earmuffs to protect their delicate ears, as they can easily turn red and start hurting from the chill. When selecting clothing for them, keep in mind waterproof options, as they'll help to keeo your little ones as dry as possible.

Moisturise and hydrate
Don't skip the moisturiser — and we are talking heavy-duty. Your child's skin is likely to be even more sensitive in the chilly weather, and you do not want their skin to crack and bleed. More than that, ensure they drink water often (keep a thermos full of warm water so it wouldn’t be too cold for their body as well) so their body is hydrated inside and out. Also, opt against blasting hot water for a bath: while it’s comforting, it can lead to a drier skin, which is not good in winter.

Have fun
This isn’t necessarily a tip but, at the end of the day, remember that you are ultimately there to have fun. Take a breather and don’t forget to let your worries go, and just enjoy.
