Frustrated with finding the right shade of lipstick to suit your skin tone? Shien Cosmetics is here to help you out…

For a long time now, the biggest bone to pick in the beauty industry has been the complete blind sight towards different skin tones. Whether intentional or just plain lazy, the main players in the beauty industry largely focused on appealing to those with pink or peachy undertones.

However, companies fail to realise that while a shade may look divine on the campaign’s model but eventually fall flat on Asian lips. So it’s an understatement to say that lipstick shopping tends to be filled with disappointment mounting on top of disappointment. But not for long it seems!

Like us, Shien Lee, had a similar discord with the beauty aisles at drugstores. And after countless trips of frustration, Shien Cosmetics was brought to life. The Shien Cosmetics lipstick range is particularly designed to cater to the full spectrum of Asian skin tones – from warm, to olive to pale to cool tones.

Launched last year, in the Year of Snake (according to the Chinese Zodiac), the serpentine vibe runs through the brand rather holistically. Titled, Viper’s Dream, the 8 available shades are gradations of red, maroon, brown nudes and our personal favourite, the fuchsia.

Here’s due warning: seduction is going to be an easy art once your lips have been clothed with these luscious shades.

The key ingredients – red algae and green tea extract – were apparently based off an ancient Japanese manual for geishas. These will aim to keep dryness at bay and prevent premature signs on aging. How’s that for a super lipstick that promises healthy looking lips and also emanate pure lust and sex appeal? And the best thing is they’re thoughtfully made – both cruelty and paraben free – so layer it on without worry!

For next Valentine’s (or any date night really), we’re stashing this in our purse!

Shien Cosmetics lipsticks (approx. USD18 each) are available online
