Can you quantify happiness? It turns out you can – these are the 10 happiest countries in the world, according to the World Happiness Report 2018.

Just how happy are Singaporeans, exactly?

Cheerier than 122 nations, but less so than 33 others – at least, according to the latest World Happiness Report 2018, anyway.

The World Happiness Report is an annual study produced by the United Nations, which draws data from the Gallup World Poll to reveal the happiest countries in the world (and why).

Through a method called the “Cantril ladder”, thousands of people from across the globe were asked to rate their values on a scale of 0 to 10, with 0 being the worst possible value and 10 being the highest.

Singapore placed at 34th this year – a drop from our 2017’s ranking of 26th. This makes Singapore the second happiest country within Asia after Taiwan, which placed at 26. Meanwhile, our neighbouring Malaysia was ranked 35th on the list.

And surprise, surprise – the happiest country in the world is Finland. (Can the Finnish ever do anything wrong, we wonder?) There must be something the Scandinavians are doing right, considering Sweden, Netherlands and Denmark also made the top 10.

So if you’re looking to up your dose on happiness and all things joyous, have a peek at the which countries made it to the top 10 list. P.S. They may or may not surprise you.
