There’s a new luxury hotel in space – and it’s welcoming guests in 2022

And get this: reservations for its first four months are already sold out.

The latest travel trend on our radar is out-of-this-world, to say the least.

For anyone who’s dreamt of actually living and orbiting in space, that dream can soon become a reality. In 2022, the world will witness its first ever luxury hotel in space.

Called Aurora Station, this luxury space hotel, developed by space technology startup Orion Span, is slated to launch in 2021 and will welcome its first guests by 2022.

So, what kind of amenities does a space hotel have, you might ask?

Like any other hotel, it’s designed with features to make your extraterrestrial experience a little more seamless. There’s WiFi, the opportunity to experience zero gravity, dive in their holodeck and even grow food in space.

Over 12 days, the hotel will soar 200 miles above the Earth’s surface. Each space station will host six people at a time (including two crew members), allowing guests a taste of the astronaut experience.

The views are certainly unworldly as well. The hotel will orbit the earth every 90 minutes, allowing guests an unobstructed view of 16 sunrises and sunsets every 24 hours and the Aurora Borealis. Beyond just a  hotel, it’s a designated center for space research, with future plans of leasing their stations as condominiums.

It looks like it’s about to get a little less spacious in space (ha); earlier this year, billionaire Robert Bigelow unveiled plans for an inflatable space hotel to be launched by 2021.

Reservations for the hotel are already open and, as you might expect, come at a cost. Staying on the Aurora starts at SGD12.4 million (USD9.5million) per person. Not that it’s a deterrence: since news of its launch broke out, reservations for Aurora Station was fully booked in 72 hours.

We’re not surprised – if we had the deep pockets to fund a space hotel cruisin’, there’s no question we’d be signing up for it.
