Called JOALI, this art-centred hotel is a luxury sustainable retreat with a host of family-friendly amenities for your picking.

The Maldives is – without a doubt – home to some of the world’s most spectacular resorts. Just last year, it opened its first ice rink; introduced the idea of an actual ‘Instagram Butler’ – proving that its dynamic hotel scene is certainly one to push the envelope in redefining hospitality.

In September, the island will welcome a new luxury sustainable retreat to its shores. Called Joali, the resort will join the ranks of other highly-anticipated hotel openings in 2018 like the Fairmont Maldives, Movenpick Resort and more.

The hotel will reside on the Muravandhoo Island in the Raa Atoll (in Northern Maldives); which incidentally is also one of the world’s largest and deepest atolls. Like many of the islands that make up the Maldives, it’s home to brilliant blue waters, unspoilt coral reefs, pristine white-sand beaches, and lush greenery – all of which the resort seeks to preserve.

‘Laidback Luxury’

There will be 73 luxury private beach and water villa residences, 4 fusion restaurants (including one which serves fresh Japanese-Peruvian fare), a whisky lounge, chocolatier, curated library, ESPA Spa – all of which have been designed around every tree on the island to avoid disrupting its delicate ecosystem.

What sets Joali apart from the other Maldivian hotels is how much art takes centre stage in the hotel’s design philosophy. Exceptional artwork characterises the entire resort space (it also has its own art gallery and studio), and the resort will regularly host visiting artists who will bring their interactive projects and collections inspired by nature.

Bespoke Itineraries (with family-friendly options)

In spite of its strong design element, Joali offers a stellar selection of family- and child-friendly facilities which run the gamut of a treehouse, kids spa, junior cooking school, ice cream shop, exciting treasure hunts and campfire storytelling sessions. It also features a host of sports activities which include waterskiing, snorkelling, Dhoni excursions, diving and more.

And true to its commitment to its sustainability efforts, Joali is also offering bespoke experiences, from snorkelling with Mantra rays to learning about coral degradation, to educate its guests on the environmental concerns surrounding the island.

The JOALI will open in the Raas Atoll of The Maldives in September 2018. For more information, visit their official website here
