Yes, folks – your underwater living fantasies are actually about to come true.

Fancy yourself an underwater living experience? Well, now you can.

The Maldives has unveiled that it’s opening what will be the world’s first underwater hotel residence, slated to be completed this November 2018. Called The Muraka (which translates to “coral” in Dhivehi, the local Maldivian language), the property will be located on the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island.

A Two-Storey Luxury Underwater Villa

The luxury USD15 million two-storey hotel villa will sit 16.5 feet below the surface of the Indian Ocean, promising guests a fully submerged hotel experience. As you might expect, each underwater bedroom floor opens up to expansive views of the ocean, designed with bathrooms that feature an ocean-facing bathtub. There’s also a hotel gym, bar, butler quarters, and even an infinity pool.

Its two-storey undersea suite section proves to exceptional: there is a king-sized bedroom, living area, and bathroom on the bottom floor, while the top level features a 550 square metres sundeck. The two floors are connected by a spiral staircase.

This is not the first underwater venture by Conrad Hotels & Resorts: in fact, it launched Ithaa, its undersea restaurant 13 years ago.

Not planning a trip anytime soon to this South Asian island? Resort World Sentosa in Singapore offers two-storey ocean suites overlooking their atrium, if you’re looking for an oceanic living adventure that is a little closer to home.

In the meantime, sneak a peek of The Muraka in the gallery above!
