Got your dream dress and now it’s time to complete your look? Check out our tips on how to style your wedding outfit to perfection.

While a stunning wedding dress is enough to turn heads and impress your groom and guests, a true fashionista knows that it takes more than that to put on a perfect look for the big day.

As a bride-to-be, you get so wound up and stressed over finding the perfect dress, that you sometimes forget to look for the little things which can make or break the overall look: the accessories.

Hair and makeup aside, accessories like jewellery, veils, tiaras and even shoes are important components to complete any gorgeous dress and elevate it to the next level. And admittedly, most brides leave it to the last minute to start looking into these seemingly small yet important details.

Been there and done that ourselves – we have compiled a list of things to consider right away after settling on the dress of your dreams to make sure you nail the wedding look to a tee.

Veil or no veil?

While traditionally all brides wore veils on their wedding day, more modern brides have opted to go without. First thing you need to decide on is whether you want one or not.

If you decide you do, the next thing would be to think of the length. A long veil would be suitable for big gowns while shorter ones are considered more casual and can create a more contemporary look. Colour comes next. while some dresses might come matched with veils, you might need to buy or get one made for those without. When doing so, think of what style of veil you prefer (gathered, two tiered, etc…) and make sure you dye it with the same white or ivory hue of the dress. Failing to do that will result in last-minute disaster.

If you decide to go without a veil, think of alternatives. You will find an array of hair accessories to choose from: flowers, tiaras and scattered bejewelled hair pieces can help you achieve a more creative look.

Jewellery

If you are expecting to be given jewellery (by your groom or mother-in-law) which you will have to wear on the day, make sure you don’t overcrowd your look and leave space for those instead.

The dress also dictates what kind of jewellery to look for. If it has a bare neckline, a necklace would be an option but if it has a busy neckline, avoid anything on that area and keep it simple. Dainty pearl or diamond earrings will do the trick.

In all cases, avoid piling on a lot of jewellery and remember that less is more. Rings are a no-no – after all, you want that engagement ring and wedding band to stand out so keep it simple otherwise.

Shoes

Shoes might be the last thing you think of when it comes to your wedding outfit – but take cue from Carrie Bradshaw and make them an important part of the look instead. A simple pump might do but think outside the box – and look to invest in metallic sandals and classic styles which you can wear afterwards.

Comfort is also key as you will most likely be on your feet all night so invest in a good and comfortable pair that won’t pinch your feet and ruin your night.
