Fresh, affordable tacos that are made from scratch? We’re sold.

If you’ve never had the chance to have a taste of Los Angeles’ scrumptious food truck scene, here’s your chance. The Lime Truck, one of LAs’ best food trucks, has opened its first stall abroad at Pasarbella @ Suntec City. Elated? You bet we are.

Founded in 2010 by chef Daniel Shemtob, The Lime Truck started with a single truck but has since expanded to three restaurants and five food trucks across Southern California. Its brick-and-mortar stall at Pasarbella marks its first overseas venture.

One thing that is impressed us right away was The Lime Truck’s philosophy to the food they prepare: that food should be accessible, affordable and sustainably sourced fresh ingredients. And boy, do they deliver. Get this: every tortilla is made from scratch. Deciding that the locally supplied tortillas in Singapore weren’t up to par, Daniel devoted two months developing the ideal tortilla recipe so that the Pasarbella kiosk can make them from scratch!

Fresh, handmade tacos take centerstage on their menu, with scrumptious offerings like the No#1 Sweet & Spicy Steak Taco (SGD4.60), Slow Braised Pork Belly Taco (SGD4) and  Fried Chicky Taco (SGD4). Customers can also opt for their Rice or Salad Bowls with their preferred choice of protein. The Rice Bowl is served with The Lime Truck’s signature green rice, assorted pickled vegetables, wontons and furikake, while the Salad Bowl is served with tostada shell, mixed greens, avocado and corn pico.

Besides tacos, there is also a delicious selection of sides (SGD3.90 each) that include ‘Elote‘ (a Mexican street corn dish), Chicken Skins (we highly recommend this!) and Brussels Sprouts. And of course, all hearty meals are made sweeter when they’re topped off with dessert, so give their churros a go. They’re available two flavours: Cinammon (SGD5.90) and Matcha (SGD6.90).

With its commitment to fresh ingredients, vibrant flavours and at wallet-friendly prices too, The Lime Truck might just be giving the other taco spots in Singapore a run (or roll, if you will) for their money. It’s most definitely worth checking out, so head up to our gallery above to browse the mouthwatering dishes!

P.S. #TacoTuesdays at The Lime Truck will be running for an indefinite period, so be sure to grab the tacos going at just SGD3.50 a pop!
