With scorching weather and a high humidity index, we say skip the heavy moisturisers and opt for creams and serums that absorb into the skin rapidly without leaving a thick layer.

Heavy moisturisers may be great for night use, but slathering thick creams on your face in the day before your makeup goes on is just a recipe for disaster. Your carefully applied face will just sweat right off in this humidity.

Thankfully, the beauty gods have answered our pleas in the form of lightweight moisturisers and serums. These products are mostly water-based and oil-free resulting in a light texture that absorbs quickly into the skin without leaving behind a greasy residue.

From Korean beauty brands like Laneige to the heralded Hope in a Jar cream from Philosophy, currently there are a whole slew of options available to give your skin a veneer of protection, so light you don’t even notice it’s there. We especially like the green tea seed serum from Innisfree for its pleasant scent and instant absorption capability.

So to get you hooked as well, here are 10 of our favourites you should try!
