One of the biggest woes of pregnancy is probably developing a sense of smell that rivals that of a sniff dog.

If certain foods and everyday smells you encounter already make you feel so bad, then it’s no question that you should be even more discerning with the scents on you put on yourself – i.e. especially your perfumes and mists. As an expecting woman, you might find that you’re more sensitive than ever to perfumes and find that some scents leave you nauseated, light-headed, agitated, or more prone to headaches.

In fact, it is recommended that expecting women stay in a scent-free environment until they can figure out which scents only aggravate their morning sickness and which scents work just fine.

But here’s the good news: you don’t need to swear off perfumes just because you are pregnant! In fact, some scents, like peppermint, ginger, and citrus can not only help you keep smelling good, but can even fight pregnancy symptoms like nausea and exhaustion. Other scents like jasmine and chamomile can also leave you calmer and more relaxed than when you were without it.

For fragrances you can actually enjoy wearing during your trimesters, check out our picks for the best-smelling and safest scents for expecting women!
