Whatever your hair type, beachy waves never hurt. Learn how to create the look for yourself with our guide, and products to help you along with it.

There’s no better laid-back summer hairstyle like beachy waves. Not only does the tousled look work on any hair type, it is effortlessly chic as well. Beachy waves can be achieved in a variety of ways using different products. Some involve the use of heat tools, others require certain products specially formulated to produce that wavy texture.

How to:

Before deciding on which products or techniques to adopt, always begin with shampooing your hair. The appearance of beach-like waves lies in your tresses being lightweight. To achieve that, use a Purifying Shampoo of your choice. Lather the shampoo and massage thoroughly to detoxify, cleanse and purify your scalp and hair. Following that, use a Detangling Conditioner to replenish your hair with any lost moisture. Allow the conditioner to sit for at least three minutes before rinsing it off. This not only unties any knots but adds texture to your hair.

Next, skip the process of blow drying your hair and allow it to air-dry. While blow drying your hair can give you a controlled look, it  involves a lot of time and causes damage when excessive heat is used.

Air-drying, on the other hand, is healthier but can leave you with wet hair for hours. Not to worry! Speed up the process of air-drying by first blotting your hair dry with a towel. Next, use your fingers to lift the roots. Shake your hair to allow air to flow between strands. This helps it dry faster than letting the strands stick together.

Now that you’ve got the basic techniques covered, it is time to choose one of our five easy methods to achieve beachy waves. Scroll through the gallery up top to find a method and its corresponding product recommendation that appeals most to you.
