If you’ve had to face flat hair, then be sure to keep these nifty hair tips by your side as they will show you just how to get a thicker and fuller looking mane.

Ever woke up from your sleep to notice your hair looking flat? Not only can it be frustrating but it can affect a slew of hairstyles you may wish to try. So to make sure you don’t have to be disappointed with your tresses again, here are 5 simple and effective tips to pump up the volume.

TIP #1: BLOW-DRY YOUR HAIR CORRECTLY

Blow drying your hair is one of the most easiest ways to pump up the volume of your hair but it can also be damaging if you use too much heat or do it incorrectly. Start off by allowing your hair to air dry a little. After a while, blow dry your hair in the opposite direction that you want your hair to lay. This helps to prevent your hair from frizzing when heat is introduced. If you are a beginner, flip your head upside down and blow dry your hair. Once done, comb to your desired style.

TIP #2: AVOID USING A TOWEL TO DRY YOUR HAIR

Toss the towel and use an old T-Shirt to dry your hair instead. Sandwich the T-Shirt around small sections of damp hair and squeeze to remove excess water. Avoid applying excessive pressure. By doing so, you are causing the cuticles to rough up a tad bit so that they don’t lie flat. Volume? Checked.

TIP #3: USE VOLUMINOUS PRODUCTS

Your hair volume is only going to increase if you treat it right. Analyze the hair products you use and ensure that every product you use is specifically for adding volume. From your shampoos to conditioners, all the products play an important role. When using a conditioner, apply it to only to your tips. This helps to prevent your hair from being weighed down.

TIP #4: USE DRY SHAMPOO

We love the dual functions of dry shampoos – cleansing and voluminizing. These portable products are great for refreshing second day hair and building volume. You can even use it on freshly dried hair to amp up the texture. Simply spray the product into your roots and massage.

TIP #5:  TEASE YOUR HAIR

Contrary to popular belief, backcombing your hair does not damage it and cause knots. This is only the case if you do not brush out the backcomb before washing your hair. Teasing your hair through backcombing is a great way to offer lots of volume. Take sections of your hair and backcomb to your desired style.
