Meet your new favourite skincare product that is so good we’re convinced it’s witchcraft.

There’s nothing like a hot shower at the end of a long day to ease your muscles and melt away your troubles. To incorporate this soothing experience into your beauty routine, try using a self-heating mask and you might just be surprised by the results.

Like its name suggests, such masks generate a warming effect when it comes in contact with your wet skin, leaving your skin feeling like it went on a luxurious spa holiday. The heat does wonders for your skin; opening up the pores so you can get a deep cleanse while increasing blood circulation on your face.

Does that sound like magic? Well, in this case, we have to thank chemistry. These masks are formulated with chemicals that produce an exothermic response when it comes in contact with water, generating the heat that helps detoxify your face.

The effects of such thermal facial masks are so addictive that you should beware to only use them at most twice a week. Self-heating masks, when used too often can dry out the skin. Women with sensitive skin should also take care when using such masks and should stop immediately if they experience any discomfort.

If you’re worried about burning your face off, rest easy. These masks only warm up to a comforting temperature that only lasts a few seconds – though we wish it could stretch for longer.
