What happens when the skin grows old?
The aging process occurs at all layers of the skin, from the epidermis to the dermis to the hypoderm tissues. Due to a decrease in estrogen production, the collagen content in the middle skin layer (responsible for the skin’s firmness and elasticity) reduces over the years. The cell regeneration in the epidermis slows down, and the moisture level in the dermis and the hypodermic fatty tissue reduces, resulting in the loss of volume on the face. The skin takes a longer period to renew itself, and this process can range from 28 to 60 days.
How will these changes have an effect on the skin’s appearance?
