Va Va Voom Volume: How to tease your hair like a pro?

Teasing your hair doesn't have to result in hair loss and breakage! Here's how you can tease your hair for that sexy volume and untangle it afterwards.

Everyone loves a little volume in their hair, no matter what their thickness is. There's just something sexy and youthful about having height in your crown and tresses, so if you're not one to pile on the hairspray, try teasing it instead. Sounds daunting? Don't worry, we've broken down a useful how-to for you to lift your roots and make it look seamless instead of messy, just like the pros do.

TOOLS

Get yourself a long tail, find-toothed comb. This will be your main ally in getting that perfect poofed up 'do. The sharp end of the handle will help in parting your hair and dividing it into sections, while the tightly-spaced teeth do just the right job in teasing your strands. Have a can of hairspray or dry shampoo handy, in order to add texture and hold your masterpiece in place.

GET TEASING

Start with clean or day-old hair. The main idea here is to have an 'under layer' and 'outer layer'. The under layer will get most of the work done, holding the teased strands and volume, while the outer layer will lay down over it to hide the mess and create a facade of polished, voluminous locks. Take sections of your under layer and begin back combing the strands about two inches from your scalp. Do this to all the sections under the outer layer and you can stop once you're satisfied with the volume. Alternate teasing with spraying and you'll get the right amount of hold.

UNTANGLE

To untangle your hair at the end of the day, get a large brush and begin combing from the ends to the roots gently. If you still have stubborn knots by the end of it, get into the shower and apply conditioner before you even go in with shampoo. Leave it in for five minutes and you'll find that your hair has enough slip to escape from all the knots and tangles. Follow up with shampoo and a smaller amount of conditioner afterwards.
