We never get tired of the classic black or coloured eyeliner. Here’s how you can achieve a perfectly straight line without making mistakes.

Nothing is more elegant than a streak of black or coloured liner on the eyelids. If done right, it enlarges the eyes. Does a straight line seem difficult to create? Rimmel makeup artist Olivier Tissot gives us the tips and tricks to drawing on the perfect eyeliner.

The right position

The secret to a smooth eyeliner is the position in which you place the product. Hold the liner between your fingers as you would hold a pencil. Then cue the base of your hand on the bottom of your cheek and one finger on your nose. On the other side, place the bottom of your hand on your chin and the rest of your fingers on your temple. This way you will achieve good stability – allowing you to draw the line on more seamlessly. If you really can’t stay still, make the same gestures but put your elbow on a flat surface.

The good trait

Another tip to creating the perfect line –  draw it on in stages. Two options are possible. Either you go from the inner corner and you stop in the center of the eye, and then continue to the edge of the eye in the second step. Or you can draw small dots all along the eyelid and once you are confident, connect the dots.

The editing trick

While focusing, failures are not inevitable. If you ever make a mistake, do not remove the makeup completely. Take a small amount of moisturizer on a cotton swab and gently rub away the desired area. Once your skin is completely dry, go in with the liner and try again.
