Makeup Hacks: Emergency substitutes to keep in mind

Never be caught off guard again with a beauty emergency with the help of our makeup tricks.

If you apply a full layer of makeup everyday, then it's vital that you now remember to give your skin some days off to breathe a little. This will prevent potential breakouts and clogged pores especially when it's coupled with not removing the makeup properly every night.

Oh oh, you’ve run out of lipstick. You can’t go out looking all pale and chapped, you have places to be!

Take a deep breath and calm down. Rifle through your makeup bag and look through your toiletries and you just might find the solution to your cosmetic emergency.

Did you know that your eyeshadow can easily transform into any shade of lipstick with a little Vaseline and a lip brush?

Here are a few life hacks for your beauty emergencies.  You’ll thank us.

LIPSTICK AS BLUSHER

Need a spot of colour but you’ve misplaced your blusher? Simply grab a creamy lipstick and mix with a drop of moisturiser and rub it into your cheeks for a subtle stain. Then powder over with loose powder as normal.

EYESHADOW FOR EVERYTHING

Run out of eyeliner, lipstick, blusher or eyebrow filler? Your eyeshadow can work in a jiffy. A neutral palette with browns can easily be used to fill in your brows while coral or pink eyeshadows can double up as your blusher. Using a wet angled brush in black eyeshadow can work as a kohl liner and mixing your pigments with petroleum jelly can work well as a lip stain too.

CONCEALER AS FOUNDATION

How can that little bit of concealer work for the whole face? Of course it can. Just mix your concealer with your daily moisturiser for an emergency tint. This works best if your concealer is the liquid type instead of the waxy type.

BRONZER AS EYESHADOW

If your bronzer is multi-faceted, it will do for a quick eyeshadow fix. A little bronzer can go a long way so don’t pack it on as you would your regular shadow.

MASCARA AS EYELINER

Using an angled brush, swipe it along the edges of your mascara and draw the line on your lids as you would a normal gel liner. Plus it will be waterproof and smudge-proof as well.

Never be caught off guard again!
