Seeing how Japanese skincare is lauded for their innovative ingenuity, we decided to dip our hands by giving the much revered product from Albion a whirl. Here’s our verdict.

While Korean skincare may be of all the rage at the moment, let’s look to their equally as innovative neighbour, Japan for a bit. Revered for skincare that never fails to deliver on efficacy and is brilliantly fuss-free, it was high time we got our hands on some Japanese beauty products.

For starters, we’re giving Albion’s trusted item in their arsenal, the Skin Conditioner a whirl. Loved by many generations since its launch in 1974, the Skin Conditioner is formulated with Job’s tears extract, which are specially cultivated in Hokkaido. For the uninitiated, Job’s tears are tall grains commonly used as food or in traditional medicine. However that’s not all as the unique ingredient is also found to boost the skin’s ability to self-recuperate, rejuvenate and maintain its metabolism, to ensure a healthy and radiant complexion.

To be used immediately after cleansing your face, simply soak a cotton pad with the solution and swipe it all over your face before continuing on your skincare routine.

Our verdict:

Encased in a simple white bottle with no fancy design, I especially loved the lightweight milk-like texture and subtle floral scent that felt like my skin was taking a rose bath of sorts. After using this for approximately 2 weeks, I’ve noticed a visible difference in skin tone and how hydrated and refreshed my skin feels. Essentially, it aided in brightening up my complexion and making dull skin a thing of the past. Think of it as a toner for restoring the pH balance of the skin but with added hydration benefits of a moisturiser.

It’s suitable for all skin types and you could even use it on flushed skin after spending a day out in the sun. Simply dab a cotton pad soaked with the product and relish in how cooling and supple your skin will feel afterwards.

The Albion Skin Condition Essential (SGD86 for 165ml and SGD147 for 330ml) is available at Takashimaya and Metro Centrepoint.
