Double buns first made their popular debut in 1997 thanks to Star Wars and it’s going strong till today.

Princess Leia is such an iconic character. She was particularly known for her hairstyle – the double buns. The Star Wars character was originally played by Carrie Fisher in 1997. Her portrayal of the character on screen paved the way for beauty history as Princess Leia’s hairstyle inspires stars till today. From the likes of Sofia Vergara to Miley Cyrus, this hairstyle has been heavily re-created on the runways as well as on fashion shoots.

It is important to create texture when it comes to this style. Start off by using a texturizing mousse and massage into your hair, concentrating the product on the strands. You can choose to create double buns leveled at the nape of your neck or high up. Start of by splitting your hair into half and tying a portion of each section with an elastic. Once done, twist each section into a bun and secure with another elastic. Finish off with hairspray and you’re good to go.
