It was believed that this trend disappeared with the late 90s but crimped hair has made its comeback in the Fall/ Winter 2015/ 16 fashion shows.

If you grew up in the 90s, you’ll be thrilled! After the dark lips made a comeback, another trend is creeping right back in: crimped hair

At the time, these ripples were THE sensation, a must – flaunting the look for big events (weddings, Christmas, etc.) If someone had told us that twenty years later , the catwalks from Paris to New York were going to bring this trend back, we would have never guessed.

WHY WE LOVE it?

Yes, it reminds us of good memories but not only that. Crimped hair can create a wild and sexy look yet be pulled off as pretty. The zig zag hairstyle can be worn in a variety of ways. Wear it throughout your hair, on your roots or just the bottom half of your hair. Either way, you’ll be rocking the look.

FOR WHO?

This look is especially suitable for individuals with long or medium length hair. And especially for straight hair in search of much-needed volume.

TECHNIQUES TO ACHIEVE THE LOOK:

1. Get out your iron crimper (give it a good dust and plug away). Using a spray or styling foam , if possible thermoprotector, section your hair into various parts. Then take the time to indent strand by strand creating beautiful waffle-like tresses.

2. The day before, plait your hair tight enough. This will take time, but it will be well worth the effort. Try creating thinner plaits to increase the number of crimped strands.

3. The third technique requires some practice, time and support from other individuals. Separate your hair into sections just as in the first technique. With the aid of some support, apply clamps onto your hair. Pin it down to secure the position and use a flat iron to run over the clamped portions. This might require two to three rounds. Always ensure that you are not applying excessive heat to your hair to prevent it from damaging.
