MAC collaborates with Guo Pei for Fall 2015 makeup collection
After Rihanna jaw dropping gown, the Chinese designer bound to get more supporters onboard through a collaboration with MAC for a Fall 2015 collection.
By now, Chinese couture and designer extraordinaire, Guo Pei, would definitely be on your radar. The biggest name in the Chinese fashion scene, Guo’s pieces are heavily influenced by ancient oriental fashion. She’s also shown that she’s not afraid to experiment with the avant-garde as well. Notably, she made Rihanna the centre of attention at the 2015 Met Gala, and when Carmen dell’Orefice walked the runway for her, four men were needed to carry the dress’ train.
But whatever the design, Guo’s pieces share a celebrated similarity: ethereal elegance and lavishness to the point of fantasy. And now, she’s back in the spotlight with a collaboration with cosmetics giant, MAC, echoing the footsteps of fashion designers like Giambattista Valli, Proenza Schouler, and Prabal Gurung. The collection will feature 16 items ranging from eyeliner to lipstick, mostly in shades of coral and pink to evoke the gentle elegance of blossoming florals.
A noteworthy exception would be the popping blue eyeshadow, which Guo included as she views blue to be ‘the base colour of the universe and our world’. If that did not sufficiently entice you already, the packaging’s retro oriental floral pattern accentuated by stunning shades of gold, firmly places the set on our list of cosmetic must-haves.
Now, just take our money already.
The MAC x Guo Pei makeup collection will be available at MAC counters and online from October 2015.
