Your lipstick preference is now an indicator of where you’re from. Red lips say you’re from New York and if you’ve got a thing for caramel nudes, you must be a Londoner. Find out what other shades are popular around the globe!

We already know our preferred shade of lipstick can give others an insight into our personality, but now, our lippies are upping the ante and revealing which city we’re from. That’s at least according to a study by Heathrow Airport, which just released its inaugural International Lipstick Colour of the Year Report – yes, that’s a thing.

Gathering stats from 50 different cities around the world, the infographic reveals the favoured shades of women around the world. This was done with data commissioned by Heathrow Airport that looked at the most popular lipsticks bought by people in different cities around the world. Apparently New Yorkers (Gwen Steffani, Olivia Palermo) love a good red lip while Londoners like Kate Moss, Cara Delevingne and the Duchess of Cambridge prefer a barely there caramel colour. Parisians (Marion Cottilard) keep it chic with their shade of dusky rose.

As for Singaporeans, we like to keep things bright and cheerful with orange red, a shade that’s also popular with Delhiites who’ve made orangey red their top choice.

Following the study, Heathrow Airport has also released a range of hand-carved micro-sculptures by artist Hedley Wiggan, taking inspiration from some of the world’s most popular landmarks like Big Ben, Statue of Liberty, Eiffel Tower, Burj Khalifa and Shanghai Tower. The lipstick creations will be on display throughout the next month at Terminal 5 as part of the International Lipstick Colours of the Year showcase.

So are you sporting your favourite orange red lipstick today?
