Singaporean Sweetheart: Spotlight on singer-songwriter Corrinne May

updated the Saturday, May 21, 2016

If you’ve never heard of Corrinne May before today, you might want to add a few of her uplifting tracks to your playlist.

The magical and haunting lyrics of Corrinne May’s music have been lifting spirits for years. While the Singaporean musician is now based in Los Angeles, she has plenty of fans in her hometown, especially among church-goers and the Christian community. She has released five albums to date, her latest being the 2012 album Crooked Lines.

Her lyrics are expressive and mostly hold themes regarding Christian life and faith. In the most flawless fashion, she manages to weave biblical stories into her songs, as the track Lazarus from her most recent album manages to convey. Her low and mesmerising tones blend spectacularly with the accompanying piano in Five Loaves and Two Fishes from her earlier album, Beautiful Seed (2007).

There are plenty of great things to say about the singer’s soothing voice, so we invite you to have a listen to her tunes yourself. Head over to Corrinne May’s official website to check out some sample tracks – you won’t regret it.
