Barbie becomes an entrepreneur!

There is no age limit to start your own business. At 55 years old, Barbie becomes an entrepreneur to encourage young girls to take a more daring career choice.

Barbie becomes a business woman!

For over 50 years, this tall blonde with blue eyes and perfect shape has been the dream of many girls. Let’s face it, as little kids, we all wanted to look like Barbie and find our own Ken. A dancer, a school teacher or a veterinary physician – until today she has practised over 150 different crafts!

Launched in 2010, the line of “I Can Be” dolls is supposed to represent the best careers of women today. After Astronaut Barbie and President Barbie,  Barbie is now an entrepreneur. And just like a true business woman, the doll has its own page on the LinkedIn professional network as well. It is also equipped with everything a business woman needs in modern times: a handbag, smartphone, tailored suit, tablet… and everything is in pink (some clichés don’t die easy!).

As explained by the brand’s officials,”Barbie has allowed several generations of girls to dream, to project.” Hopefully this will allow Barbie to inspire younger girls to take more daring roles as they grow up. Its launch is accompanied by a campaign on social networks, with chats and testimonials. While only 25% of entrepreneurs are women in Europe (the percentage rises to 37% in the United States), Mattel also uses eight business women who are successful in their own business to promote the latest doll. With such ambassadors and role models, Barbie’s role as an inspiration for young girls is taken very seriously this time.
