Ode to Binge-Watching
The night started on a high with Andy Samberg’s sidesplittingly hilarious skit about binge-watching TV shows. After his character gets teased for his small-screen ignorance, Samberg retreats to his “TV Viewing Bunker” in an attempt to stay relevant as a human being. He emerges a whole year later, a fully bearded hobo with all the TV knowledge to qualify as an Emmy host. Who knew that was all you needed?

The Amys
The awards show then kicked off with Amy Poelher and Amy Schumer (collectively known as The Amys) presenting the first award of the night. “We are Amy,” Poelher simply yet so hilariously introduced. Schumer also got some funny in, quipping "Let's not forget what tonight is really about, celebrating hilarious women, and letting the Internet weigh in on who looks worst." Enough teasing already! These two need a movie together!

Samberg Divulges Sensitive Information

Lady Gaga’s Debut Emmy Presentation
The mother monster stunned in an elegant black number while presenting the award for Lead Actor in a Limited Series or a Movie. Winner Richard Jenkins accepted the award but not without getting a little star-struck. “That was Lady Gaga,” said the award winner as Gaga laughed and looked away coyly.

Game of Thrones Sweeps the Emmys
Even with the death (or “death”) of Jon Snow, Game of Thrones won 11 of their 24 nominations, breaking the record for most awards won by a series in a single year. The spectacular Peter Dinklage accepted the Emmy for best supporting actor ever so humbly while front-runners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss won for Outstanding writing in a Drama Series.

George R.R. Martin’s Makes Appearance
Speaking of Thrones, the fantasy novel’s author George R.R. Martin was present for the record-breaking big win, on his birthday no less! However, his appearance did have many fans questioning how the author is spending his time. #finishthebook George, or at least tell us what happened to Jon.

Schumer’s First-time Win
Amy Schumer took home the golden statue for Outstanding Variety Sketch Series. This is the category’s debut at the Emmys, making Schumer its first ever winner. So what do you say as a first-timer winner? “… and the girl who gave me a sorta smokey eye, I really love it.”
You kill us Amy.

Every Don Gets His Day
It was his final chance at a Best Actor win, and we have to say, it was emotional to see the dashingly dapper John Hamm finally score an Emmy for his portrayal of Don Draper in Mad Men. The actor, looking both shocked and relieved, credited his win to his cast, his crew and even thanked ex Jennifer Westfeld. This win was overdue, but definitely worth the wait.

A Transparent Win
The Emmys also tackled crucial social issues with the wins of Amazon’s Transparent. Jill Soloway and Jeffery Tambor took home the Emmys for directing and acting in a comedy series respectively. Viola Davis Makes Emmy History
The Emmys wrapped up on an emotional and triumphant note as Viola Davis became the first black woman to win Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. Davis started her acceptance speech with an evocative quote from Harriet Tubman before explaining why it has taken this long for a black woman to win. “The only thing that separates women of color from anyone else is opportunity, said the How to Get Away With Murder star, “You cannot win an Emmy for roles that are simply not there.”

From Andy Samberg’s TV marathon to Viola Davis’ brilliant speech, here’s everything you need to catch up on from television’s biggest night.

Eyes were all on the 67^th Primetime Emmys for the stars, and the glamour and the six rule changes made by the TV Academy.

After his energising, fist-bumping performance at last year’s Oscars, Andy Samberg returned to host the Emmys. The Brooklyn-Nine-Nine star started off with a hilarious musical sketch boasting about all the shows he has watched to prepare for his hosting gig. A marathon it was indeed.

Game of Thrones swept the awards with a whopping 11 wins, upsetting Mad Men’s final year at the Emmys. However, Mad Men fans were not disappointed when a deserving John Hamm took the title of Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series.

Without a doubt, the most emotional moment of the night goes to Viola Davis. The How to Get Away with Murder Actress made history as she accepted the Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series award, making her the first black woman to ever win in that category.
