This week we’re switching the limelight on our favourite female stars from the screens.

Previously, we spoke of our favourite actors so this time we’re turning the limelight on our favourite female stars who’ve won hearts over and over again, the world over. From the kick-ass Rosamund Pike to the spunky and loveable Mila Kunis and the downright hilarious Sofia Vergara, here are our absolute must-follow actresses from the screens.

Tilda Swinton

“Striking as she is, Tilda Swinton has a magnetic appeal as an actress and is by far one of the most versatile actresses out there. I love watching her transform into unforgettable characters in various films playing across genres from drama (We Need to Talk about Kevin, I am Love) to comedy (Grand Budapest Hotel) and thrillers (Michael Clayton) . I also admire her style and bold fashion sense – and think she is truly beautiful in an unconventional yet compelling way (yup, I kinda have a girl crush on her). To me, she is more of an artist than an entertainer and hence stands out the most in a sea of lookalike Hollywood starlets as she challenges the cliché aesthetics which the film industry has been built on for so long.”

Mila Kunis

“I’ve been in love with her ever since That 70s Show. She’s beautiful, spunky and an all rounded down-to-earth person. It’s always good to see Hollywood actresses who don’t walk around with an air of superiority following them.”

Rosamund Pike

“My current favourite actress will have to be Rosamund Pike. She starred as Amy Dunne in Gone Girl, a character who is seemingly innocent but in actuality, is dangerously cunning. Because Pike’s performance hit all the right notes, I got a sense of the character’s eerie, intense personality and the movie became a lot more gripping. I don’t think they could have casted a better actress for the movie.”

Sofia Vergara

“My current favourite actress would have to be Sofia Vergara. The woman is witty, funny and beautiful. Plus she can ham it up in movies like Machete Kills or glam it up as Gloria from Modern Family.“

Natalie Portman

“Natalie Portman is the actress I admire most. As a Harvard graduate, she uses her intelligence in her acting, such as psychological dramas like Black Swan and Closer. Her beauty is plainly evident and not showy, and she also seems genuine and down-to-earth. I look forward to more movies from her!”

Natalie Portman

“My favourite actress has to be Natalie Portman. She is the best combination of beauty and talent and I enjoy watching almost all her movies, with my favourite being Black Swan, where she plays both extremes convincingly. Her electrifying performance won her an Academy Award, deservingly. Plus, she’s one of the few Hollywood actresses who has managed to stay out of controversy for the most of her career.”

Nicole Kidman

“More than a pretty face, she is an excellent actress! Whether it is in drama, comedy, fantasy or action movies! In 2014, she played actress, and Princess Grace Kelly in the movie Grace of Monaco. I’m looking forward to seeing the biopic Queen of the Desert (2015) where she played the British traveller, writer, archaeologist, explorer, cartographer and political officer Gertrude Bell”

Maggie Cheung

Comrades, almost a love story, is one of the earliest ones on the long list of my favorite movies after watching it in the old Lido cinemas with my parents at 10 years old. Maggie Cheung’s display of Qiao in the movie has becomes etched in my mind as a film goddess to me. She sealed herself as my favourite actress again in In the Mood for Love and 2046. The magic and allure that she brings about on screen is irreplaceable.”
