After being treated horribly by her husband and then left for a younger woman, Ruth Patchett begins plotting her revenge with intricate undertakings that will lead to the destruction of all things her husband holds dear. Indeed, hell hath no fury like a woman scorned!

Serious Moonlight (2009)
Sometimes you’ve just got to let a dead relationship go. Successful lawyer Louise wants to rekindle her crumbling marriage to Ian but her decision to surprise him takes a turn for the worse when she discovers him decorating their country cottage for a romantic weekend with his girlfriend. Ian wants a divorce but Louise isn’t having any of it and ties him up so they can talk things out.

Legally Blonde (2001)
Remember when Elle Wood’s boyfriend broke up with her because she wasn’t Harvard material? Shattered Elle did all she could to get into Harvard just to win back the “love of her life”, but soon found new goals and ventures to keep her occupied. Her lousy ex wanted her back after she single-handedly won a tough court case but by then, our heroine had realized she was worth much more than being the missus of someone who didn’t know how to appreciate her.

The First Wives Club (1996)
What breakup movie list would be complete without this one? A classic revenge flick where three women discover the true cause of their friend's suicide (her husband marrying a younger woman), and realize that all of their ex-husbands have taken them for granted. Instead of sitting back and letting things go, they make a pact and decide it’s time to make their exes pay for all the heartache caused.

Heart break can happen at any stage of your life – even when you’re a grandmother. But instead of moping around and pining for what could have been, Bettie, a former beauty queen leaves her failed relationship and crumbling business behind for an adventure of self-discovery around France with her grandson.

Based on a semi-autobiographical novel, Terry McMillan’s life-affirming tale of an unlucky-in-love middle-aged divorcée who jets off to Jamaica with her best friend for some fun in the sun shows us that the best things happen when we least expect it

Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008)
What better way to get over an ex than to watch a movie about someone getting over an ex. It breathes hope into our dark, brooding thoughts, telling us that there is life after the end of a relationship. That is pretty much the premise of Forgetting Sarah Marshall where struggling musician Peter Bretter flies to Hawaii to make a last-ditch effort to woo his ex. All his begging, pleading and screaming doesn’t change her mind and poor Peter has to accept the fact that they were never meant to be. Of course, the fact that he meets someone new in Hawaii does help the transition a little, proving that there is someone out there if you’re willing to let go of the wrong person.

Bridget Jones Diary (2001)
Sometimes you have to kiss a few frogs before you find your prince, which is what our lovable heroine does in her quest to find true love. Just when she think she’s found her Prince Charming in her boss, Daniel Cleaver, she catches him with an attractive, younger, thinner woman. A devastated Bridget is left to pick up the pieces, but rest assured, the movie ends on a happy note when she starts to see a long-time family friend, one whom she’s previously dismissed as stuffy and boring, in a different light. It turns out he’s just as interested in her and in fact, loves her for what she is, quirks and all!

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004)
Have you ever wished you could 'un meet' the person who broke your heart or at the very least erase all memory of them? What if your wish was granted? After a painful breakup, Clementine undergoes a procedure to erase all memory of her ex-boyfriend. When Joel the ex discovers the lengths to which Clementine is going to forget their relationship, he undergoes the same procedure only to realize the love they shared was worth the loss.
