Imaginarium: To the Ends of the Earth
Parents and children alike can expect to have a field day at Imaginarium: To the Ends of the Earth, a family-friendly contemporary art exhibition presented by the Singapore Art Museum (SAM).

This year’s edition of the exhibition, which is held annually, features artworks by nine contemporary artists which will excite and inspire visitors to think about their surroundings and the environments they live in.

From tiny clusters of mushrooms scattered throughout the museum in Calvin Pang’s Where Am I to an immersive landscape straight out from the dreams of Unchalee Anantawat in Floating Mountain (pictured), the art installations, which invite visitors to interact with them, are a real sensory treat for the little ones. And while it’s a lot of fun, parents can certainly make things educational by discussing the artworks with the kids.

The exhibition runs from 6 May to 27 August 2017 at SAM at 8Q, which is located across the road from the main museum building.

Spectrum Version 2.2
Continue to change the way you think about art at Spectrum Version 2.2, Singaporean artist Jeremy Sharma’s new exhibition at Sullivan+Strumpf gallery in the Gillman Barracks art cluster, where he is debuting three multimedia pieces.

Forget oil painting and sculpture. What makes this exhibition unique is the unconventional medium of Sharma’s artworks – light boxes and light nodes. By using a combination of image, light, and ambient sounds, he blends science and technology with art and the result is an atmosphere that somehow manages to stir the emotions. This is an exhibition that should be seen in person for the full experience.

David Hockney: A Matter of Perspective
STPI Gallery, which turns 15 this year, is presenting a special exhibition on English artist David Hockney as part of its anniversary activities.

Hockney is famous for playing with perspectives, and he cleverly uses multiple points of view to draw viewers into his work. The 36 pieces on show will provide a retrospective on how the celebrated artist has challenged the boundaries of print techniques through his investigation of perspectives.

The exhibition runs from 1 July to 9 September 2017 at STPI Gallery.

Ghost Nets of the Ocean
Those who love the sea won’t feel like fish out of water at this exhibition. Ghost Nets of the Ocean features colourful woven sculptures of fish, turtles, squid and other marine animals suspended throughout the Asian Civilisations Museum. Amazingly, these sculptures, crafted by indigenous and non-indigenous artists from Erub Arts on Darnley Island, Torres Strait, Australia, have been made using ocean debris such as abandoned fishing nets and recycled plastic. The exhibition is undeniably pretty to look at, but also creates room for conversation about pollution, recycling and conservation.

The exhibition runs from 1 June to 6 August 2017 at the Asian Civilisations Museum.

Human+ The Future of our Species
It seems like only yesterday that genetic engineering and robots was the stuff of science fiction movies.

Human+ is an exhibition at the ArtScience Museum that shows visitors what a future world ruled by science and technology might look like. Works from a dizzying 40 international artists, scientists, technologists, and designers will be on display.
