A breathtaking insight into the lives of the millions of people living around the Yangtze river by Eric Valli will not be one to be missed.

The ArtScience Museum is for people to gather and marvel at the wonder and beauty of the arts. And come this October, there will be a new exhibition to gawk at. Swarovski just announced a creative collaboration with renowned author, photographer and film director Eric Valli.

Titled, ‘Living Yangtze’, the exhibition is a multi-media project which tells the stories of seven communities living along the great Yangtze River in China.

Swarovski commissioned Eric Valli to spend six months documenting the lives of communities around the locations of its Waterschools along the Yangtze River. The Swarovski Waterschool China is a Corporate Responsibility project of Swarovski which has been working at the Yangtze basin since 2008.

Working alongside the Shangri-La Institute and with the support of local governments and the Ministry of Education, the program teaches in 101 schools and has reached 173,000 children by the end of 2014.

Swarovski’s Waterschools teach children and their families about the importance of water for our survival and address ecological, economic, social and cultural issues that affect water on a local and global level through participatory and hands on learning.

Living Yangtze portrays the magnificent landscapes and dignified faces of the people Eric met on his way. The exhibition aims to use film as a positive medium to generate empathy and awareness about the importance of clean, sustainable water sources. Valli believes that the best way of raising environmental awareness is to inspire new audiences with an appreciation of the beauty of our natural landscapes.

This highly educational and eye-opening exhibition will be on display at the ArtScience Museum at Marina Bay Sands from 10 – 27 October 2015 as part of the museum’s season of the Art & Science of Sustainability. After it’s over, there will be no more chances to see it in Singapore, so be sure to make a trip down – we are sure you will be in for a visual feast.
