Civic District’s Outdoor Festival
When: Friday to Saturday; 4 to 5 August & 11 & 12 August; 5 to 11pm

Where: Civic District

Why: This is an event that you definitely don’t want to miss. Kickstart the first two weekend of August right with the inaugural Civic District’s Outdoor Festival. This historical quarters is transformed for a night of fun. Don’t miss out on the amazing outdoor projections and performance, and the art market. This festival spans from the National Gallery, to Empress Lawn, so drop by to check out what they have to offer!

Pool Vibes Only
When: Sunday; 6 August; 2 to 7pm

Where: W Singapore Sentosa Cove

Why: Drop by for chill tunes and good cocktails this Sunday, at W Singapore. This summer pool party will get you in the mood for the coming weeks. So, drop all your worries away and head down to Sentosa Cove for good times with friends. And then, when the sun sets, join for a class of sunset yoga by the lawn from 6 to 7pm that utilises the wonderful location to its advantage.

Singapura Festino at Monti
When: Saturday to Tuesday; 5 to 8 August; 3 to 11pm

Where: MONTI Lounge

Why: Singapore has always been a melting pot of different cultures, so celebrate our country’s independence at the Singapura Festino. Taste the best of the local cuisine with an Italian twist— our classic laksa is reinvested into a laksa risotto, and their satay is done with iberico pork. The drinks wouldn’t disappoint either! Cocktails are all given a local take, with delicious concoctions named Dino Rock and Kopi-O-La!

Films At The Fort
When: 3 to 20 August; 7.30pm onwards

Where: Fort Canning Green

Why: The fifth iteration of Films At The Fort is back, and bigger than ever! The selection of films ranges from recent releases like Get Out to classics like Top Gun, perfectly satisfying everyone’s taste. Watch as the sun sets across the sky, chill with your friends, and be prepared for a night of fun. The gates open up at 5pm, so come early and listen to the tunes brought by the DJs and munch on the delicious food made by The Providore.

¡Viva Singapore! National Day Celebrations
When: Wednesday; 9 August; 3pm till late

Where: Super Loco Customs House

Why: Still haven’t found the perfect spot to watch the National Day Fireworks? Well, why not drop by Super Loco Customs House this Wednesday? This contemporary Mexican bar is along Fullerton Bay, making it a prime spot to celebrate the festivities. Try out the chilli crab and kaya toast tacos, for a quirky take on local Singaporean classics. And, as night fall comes, chill out with a good drink and feel your patriotic spirit rise in pride!

Floral Watercolour Workshop
When: Saturday; 5 August; 2 to 5pm

Where: Naiise @ The Cathay

Why: Follow along with Lydia Syiariel, an Indonesian-born artist whose passion for the arts were present since she was a little child. Over the course of three hours, learn from Lydia’s live demonstration on how to create amazing pieces of art, and then try your hand at making one yourself. The watercolour flowers that you’ll make at the end of the workshop will add an infinitely delicate touch to your future artwork!

Open House at Citizen Farm
When: Saturday; 12 August; 10am to 3pm

Where: Citizen Farm

Why: Drop by to see the farming systems they have at Citizen Farm, and listen in to talks on the future of sustainability and food in Singapore. Best of all, drop by their Farmer’s Market for impossibly fresh produce from the farm itself! Not only that, there will also be food sold by Tiong Bahru Bakery and Open Door Policy, as well as gardening supplies and veggie subscription boxes up for sale!

Reopening of the Tampines Regional Library
When: Saturday; 5 August; 10 to 12pm

Where: Our Tampines Hub

Why: For those living in the area, the closure of the iconic building that housed the Tampines Regional Library might have been saddening. However, the new and improved version will certainly get you stoked. Occupying five floors, the library has increased their seating capacity by 96%, but that’s not all. A culinary studio is also located inside, along with a gallery and activity spaces for different events.

Yogalates in the Park
When: Saturday; 12 August; 9 to 10am

Where: Singapore Botanic Gardens

Why: Enjoy the lush greenery at the Singapore Botanic Gardens, and feel your body stretching as you partake in this hybrid between pilates and yoga. Aptly named Yogalates, feel yourself gaining the agility from the yoga elements while strengthening your body through the pilates aspects. Your core would be tested to the limits, improving your posture and your health as well.

Zi Char & Craft Beer Brunch
When: Saturday; 5 August; 12.30 to 2pm

Where: New Ubin Seafood Singapore

Why: Singaporeans love food, but the affordability and frequency that we eat zi char gives it a big place in our hearts. New Ubin Seafood is one of the original purveyors of this style of cooking, starting off from Pulau Ubin, before relocating back to mainland Singapore. This event will highlight Singapore treats that have been reimagined, paired with locally-made beers by Rye & Pint Brewing Co.
