Singapore Airlines Light Up The Night Carnival 2016

The Waterloo Sessions at Singapore Night Festival 2016

Why: There’s plenty of music to be enjoyed this weekend. The Singapore Art Museum’s Glass Hall is yet another venue where you’ll be able to cheer on some local talent, with the likes of King Kong Jane, Tell Lie Vision, Cesspit, Disco Hue and more taking over the stage with their original music. Space, memory and Hong Kong identity via the lenses of six female Hong Kong artists
When: 20 August, Saturday; 5:30 – 7pm
Where: DECK, 120A Prinsep Street
Why: Curator Carol Chow Pui-Ha and artists Lau Wai, Law Yuk-Mui and Yvonne Lo Yuen Man come together during this enlightening session to present and discuss the exhibition ‘A room with a view’. Here, Chow talks about the role of photography during political and cultural events in Hong Kong, while Lau Wai, Law Yuk-Mui and Yvonne Lo Yuen Man share their experience regarding the various concepts of space and memory in their work. The much-anticipated Singapore Night Festival kicks off this weekend, among plenty of other things!

Expect plenty of non-stop entertainment this week when the Singapore Night Festival kicks off over the weekend. Bringing you a whole heap of live performances by local talented musicians, immersive light displays, family-fun activities and much more, don’t miss the way the Bugis and Bras Basah precincts come to life over the double weekend event. And the festive atmosphere doesn’t stop there – Jiak Chuan Road will also be celebrating, this time in Caribbean style, while Singapore Airlines is throwing their Light Up The Night Carnival over at the F1 Pit Building, which will see some jaw-dropping race-related activities, stunts and exhibitions.

Need to unwind a little? Perhaps visiting the Farmers’ Markets over at Gillman Barracks this Sunday will help. And if you’re in the mood to mingle with like-minded creatives, the NUS HERE!
