Why: Vintage flea markets are all the rage right now, and if you love trawling through a collection of oddities and pre-loved goods, including vinyl records and vintage cameras, you’ll want to head to Reservation at Vicki’s this Sunday. The venue is pet-friendly and child-friendly, and there’ll be plenty of parking spots around, so grab your friends and family and head on over - we’re sure you won’t want to miss the live performance by homegrown indie band The Passersby!

Korean Kocktail Klass with Joo Bar
When: 30 - 31 July, 3 - 4:30pm
Where: Joo Bar, 5 Tan Quee Lan Street
Why: City Nomads has teamed up with Joo Bar to host a fun and alcohol-tastic cocktail workshop. Rock up to one of the two weekend sessions to learn the art of creating great Korean-style cocktails like the Makgeolli Cocktail and the Soju Cocktail, under the tutelage of Joo Bar’s resident head bartender, Pong. Modern Calligraphy (Intro to Pointed Pen)
When: Saturday, 30 July; 2 - 5:30pm

Why: Curious about pointed pen calligraphy? Learn the fundamentals of this fun and creative art form during this introductory 3-and-a-half-hour workshop. Singapasar
When: 29 - 31 July
Where: National Design Centre, 111 Middle Road
Why: With Singapore’s National Day fast approaching, you’ll want to head to the National Design Centre this weekend to soak up some festive cheer. Wildly successful last year, Singapasar returns for its second edition in 2016 and promises the largest design-centric “pasar malam” (night market) featuring all things Singapore under one roof. Don’t pass up on this local marketplace gathering!

Farmers & Artisan Market
When: 30 - 31 July
Where: D’Kranji Farm Resort, 10 Neo Tiew Lane 2
Why: Love picking through a selection of fresh fruit, vegetables, herbs, artisanal baked goods, and pretty much all you need for your kitchen? How about cosmetics, arts and crafts, handmade jewellery and unique accessories? The D’Kranji Farm Resort will be open to the general public between 10am and 6pm with free admission and free parking for the Famers & Artisan Market this weekend. There’s really no better reason to enjoy the peaceful Kranji Countryside.

The 50 Cents Fest
When: 30 - 31 July
Where: Chinatown Food Street, Smith Street
Why: A throwback event to the 1950s/60s, when a 50 cent coin was enough to get you a sumptuous meal from a street hawker, Chinatown Food Street is proud to present an incredible food journey by transforming the entire venue into a nostalgic old school street hawker scene. With a wide range of local fare and traditional dishes being served by up to 20 stalls, you’ll be able to stretch your dollar here, big time. Treat yourself to timeless favourites like Sweet Noodles, Ice Ball, UFO (Fried Oyster Cake) and much more!

Yoga In The Park

Why: Book a spot at this hour-long yoga session led by Taf and Cheryl. At SGD25, you get to bring a friend to join in with fun basic partner work, which will definitely help with bonding. The Local People X Aliwal Art Centre Sarong Party Art Market
When: Saturday, 30 July; 5 - 11pm
Where: Aliwal Arts Centre, 28 Aliwal Street
Why: Come dressed in your best sarong and take part in this fun and family-friendly Aliwal Arts Night Crawl. Enjoy free performances and fun activities such as the Batik Trail, where you’ll get to explore the history, culture and intricacies of batik, from the various traditional motifs to its place in the Kampong Gelam history. The Local People will also be hosting a fantastic art market at the Aliwal Street carpark - find a great curation of locally designed products and support Singaporean brands at this collaborative space.

From learning the art of modern calligraphy to flowriding at Wave House Sentosa, this week offers plenty.

If you’re a little tired of trawling the island for good brunch spots this weekend, head on over to The 50 Cents Fest at Chinatown Food Street to relive the 1950s and 60s – the entire venue will be transformed into an old school street hawker scene and you’ll be able to grab a local snack for just 50 cents, just like in the old days. If food’s still on your mind by the time you’re done slurping up that Ice Ball, the Farmers & Artisan Market will also be held this weekend and you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to fresh produce and artisanal goods here.

Speaking of markets, Flea @ Vicki’s by The Retro Factory is one vintage flea market guaranteed to excite collectors of pre-loved items like vintage cameras and vinyl records. Homegrown indie band The Passersby will be entertaining the crowd with a live performance, so grab your friends and family and head over to Tanjong Katong Road on Sunday.
