Where: Esplanade Theatres on the Bay, 1 Esplanade Drive
Why: The 10^th da:ns festival 2015 presents world-renowned dance icons such as Sylvie Guillem, Akram Khan and Israel Galván. Singapore artists Kuik Swee Boon and Choy Ka Fai, will be performing specially commissioned original works. Other than performances, there will be interactive sessions like a mass dance session.

Singapore International Festival of Music

Why: The inaugural Singapore International Festival of Music is the city’s first classical music festival. Honouring our country’s jubilee, will feature six main concerts in conjucture with the theme ‘War & Peace’.

The Great Caribbean Cook-off
When: Sunday, 11 October; 6pm
Where: Lime House, 2 Jiak Chuan Road
Why: Top chefs from the city will be going head-to-head in the first Caribbean cook-off hosted in the Lion City. Organsied by Gastronaut Gourmet Gauntlet and Lime House, the competition will showcase the talent and creativity of four chefs as they battle it out to win the hearts and votes of diners

Symphony in the Park
When: Sunday, 11 October; 4pm
Where: Singapore Botanic Gardens
Why: Join the National University of Singapore’s Symphony Orchestra (NUSSO) in the Bontanic Gardens for an evening for music. The orchestra will be performing a repertoire that includes pieces from The Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables and The Sound of Music.

Yuna Live in Singapore

Where: Marina Bay Sands, 10 Bayfront Avenue, MasterCard Theatres
Why: The region's most recent successful singer-songwriter, Yuna will be performing live in an exclusive one-night only show at Marina Bay Sands. Join her for a night of her unique blend of contemporary pop, acoustic folk and soulful R&B sounds.

Self Imitating Self by Ann Healey

Where: Taksu Galleries, 3 Jalan Merah Saga, #01-72
Why: Taksu Galleries showcases artist Ann Healey’s works that are inspired by her two homes, London and Singapore. The pieces feature Asian design and influence that are threaded through the memories of her childhood motifs, referencing pop culture and cartoon imagery.

Penetrations by Verticle Submarine

Where: Chan Hampe Galleries, Raffles Hotel Arcade, 328 North Bridge Road, #01-20/21
Why: Local art collective Vertical Submarine will be exhibiting a showcase that highlights local nuances. The artworks pay a tribute to fast-disappearing local culture through the use of old-school designs integrated with modern marketing concepts.

Perspectives Film Festival 2015
When: Till Sunday, 18 October; various timings
Where: National Museum of Singapore, 93 Stamford Road
Why: The film festival returns for its eight run. This year’s running theme is ‘Transitions’ and features seven critically acclaimed films, including the premiere of Xavier Dolan's Mommy (2014).

From the Perspective Film Festival, Singapore International Music Festival to da:ns Festival, you’re going to be well immersed in festivals this week.

Festival-goers are sure to be busy bees this week! There are three on-going festivals happening on our sunny shores – Perspective Film Festival, Singapore International Music Festival and da:ns Festival.

For those who may not be too fond of such events, there are other shindigs that are sure to pique your interest. For instance, Foodies should not miss Singapore’s very first Caribbean Cook-off, hosted by Lime House.

And if pop music is more your style, the little red dot is welcoming Malaysian singer-songwriter, Yuna for a one-night only event. The charming vocalist will be performing at the MasterCard Theatres of Marina Bay Sands.
