You’ll soon be able to shop the stuff you “liked” on Facebook

The social network is moving beyond likes and venturing into e-commerce with its new integrated shopping feature allowing you to purchase products on the spot.

We’re more than familiar with the poke, share, post and like button on Facebook, but is there a new widget we’ll be getting accustomed to in the next year or so?

Just a month after Instagram (which is owned by Facebook) announced their “shop now” feature, social media giant, Facebook is following suit with an integrated shopping feature of its own. At the moment, the feature, which allows retailers and e-commerce sites to sell their wares directly on their Facebook page is still in its testing phase, with only a limited number of users having access to it.

Once it does get the green light though, users can essentially look forward to shopping their favourite brands on the popular social networking site without the need to be redirected to the brand’s website. While the ‘Shop’ button will be found directly underneath the ‘About’ section for mobile users, for desktop users, look for the tab next to the ‘About’ and ‘Photo’ sections in brand pages.

Speaking to BuzzFeed News, Facebook’s Product Marketing Manager, Emma Rodgers said, “With the shop section on the page, we’re now providing businesses with the ability to showcase their products directly on the page.”

Now we know why Facebook added a money transfer feature to its Messenger app recently. So shopaholics, consider yourselves warned!
