Mary Katrantzou launches second capsule collection for Adidas

Give your athletic wear a sartorial spin with some of the more spiffy designs from Mary Katrantzou’s second collaboration with the sportswear giant.
Everyone’s favourite Greek fashion darling, Mary Katrantzou is back at it again with another capsule collection for sportswear giant, Adidas. Proving that athletic wear could be just as sartorially savvy, the print extraordinaire has managed to work her brilliant mind and inject a good dose of whimsy onto the latest range of apparel.
Speaking to WWD at the launch party in London, Katrantzou said, “We started thinking about symbolism and how we can take that within the context of Adidas. But also the silhouettes — there are little tennis dresses and diving suits and track tops so I thought that was a fun spin on the idea of symbols.”
The 24 piece collection that consists of structured T-Shirts embellished with crystals, reversible varsity jackets, tank dresses, leggings, track pants, jersey swimsuits and sneakers, is essentially a glorious celebration of the current athletic-meets-luxe trend. Besides using collages crafted from typical items used in sports such as a stopwatch, a tennis racket and a badminton shuttlecock, you would also notice holographic design elements gracing footwear.
Let’s face it, give Mary Katrantzou anything and she’ll be able to conjure up something exceptionally chic that’s worthy of a statement.
