Over the weekend, Dolce & Gabbana shot their Spring/Summer 2017 advertising campaign featuring the much-buzzed about #DGMillenials in Capri. The #DGMillenials, a cast of bright-eyed famous millennials with a huge social media following, include actress Zendaya, model Thylane Blondeau and Youtube personality Cameron Dallas. It also features Rafferty Law, son of actor Jude Law and Presley Gerber, supermodel Cindy Crawford’s son. Combined, they have a total social media following surpassing 50 million.

It is clear that D&G is shifting its focus and demographic towards a new fashion generation. At the recent D&G SS17 show during Milan Fashion Week, its front row was peppered with Instagram stars, Youtubers, children of celebrities, and more – all of whom have been dubbed ‘The Millennial Generation” by Dolce. While campaign castings are traditionally shrouded in secrecy and confidentiality, that is definitely not the case with this campaign. Social media is rife with excitement over the campaign, with the hashtag #DGMillenials trending on Instagram and pictures posted by the campaign stars receiving close to a million likes.

Whether this buzz will translate to actual sales for the fashion house is still uncertain, considering its mostly a teenage demographic, but one thing is clear: D&G might just have forged itself into the hearts and minds of its next wave of customers.
