Raw, real, intimate – the campaign created a romantic reality instead of running away from it.

Phillip Lim has pushed the boundaries further this time, with a contrasting approach from the norm and that’s by asking Liya Kebede, the world-renowned model and actor, to be photographed in her sacred hometown, Ethiopia.

As challenging as it sounds, the campaign’s collaboration with photographer Viviane Sassen believes in creating artful images without having hair, makeup and styling teams. The authenticity and spontaneity of the shoot thus created impossibly emotional real moments in time.

We couldn’t get enough of the genuine emotions from Liya and her family which were captured through Viviane’s lenses and the images produced are in fact, incredibly impactful. Phillip Lim is eternally grateful to the family for their graciousness and participation in such special moments.

The campaign is also in line with the brand’s 10th year anniversary, where they aim to reinforce gratitude and appreciation for all things. ‘Stop and smell the flowers’ essentially teaches us to be thankful with the smallest things in life and not to oversee what matters.

Kudos to Phillip Lim for going against the grain with his shoot.
