It’s time to revisit the grunge movement of the 90s with these bold red and black plaid accessories from Coach.

Whenever you think of plaid, the one image that immediately comes to mind is that of Scottish kilts or well, bagpipers in Scottish kilts. Which isn’t exactly what many would deem fashionable in today’s context – quirky, sure but fashionable? Questionable.

Nonetheless, the print’s influence has come a long way from those traditional roots. Especially so in the 90s where the tartan print quickly became associated with the sweeping grunge movement. Favoured by rock idols and supermodels alike, the design eventually became a distinctive feature of that generation, elevating the print from the mosh pits to the runway. And now the American brand, Coach is bringing that very vibe back with the launch of their Plaid collection.

Titling their version of plaid, Mount Plaid, the peppy line of small leather goods, bags, outerwear and scarves, fitted out in red and black boxes will instantly add a bold touch to your outfit without being overtly vibrant. It’s all about making a statement without really announcing to the world that you’re making said statement.

So if you’re heading to a rock ‘n’ roll concert, be sure to bust out the plaid in its full glory!
