From a California-girl, beach ball bikini to a stellar red-carpet gown, here are Katy Perry’s memorable outfits at her Super Bowl 2015 halftime show.

Landing the Super Bowl halftime slot is a huge deal, even for the USD130 million-worth Katy Perry. Not to mention she has the insurmountable task of living up to 2013’s performance by Queen Beyoncé.

But, as expected, the California Girl absolutely slayed her Super Bowl 2015 appearance from both a singing and fashion standpoint. Her laudable, extravagant numbers were the brainchild of the singer’s favourite designer and close friend, Jeremy Scott.

The four looks

Singing her hit single ‘Roar‘, Katy Perry made her grand entrance riding on a giant tiger, decked in an equally jaw-dropping fiery flame ensemble. “We wanted something very strong and striking and iconic and powerful. Katy was very instrumental, actually, in the process of this because she was very good at nudging me in different directions at things I’d done,” said Jeremy Scott in an interview with Style.com. “She was inspired by flame shoes I’ve done in the past, so she was like, ‘What if we took something like that?'” Hence, the birth of the flame dress.

Just like a Russian nesting doll, Katy Perry had another layer of outfit underneath the wild orange number: The Beach Ball Bikini. For her ‘California Girl’ performance, the pop megastar donned on a cheeky beach-ball-inspired bustier and a playful skirt. Jeremy had to make sure it was feasible for Katy to strip out of the first outfit and zip up in this bikini within a nerve wrecking 10 seconds.

For her duet with renowned rapper Missy Elliott, Katy Perry ‘got her freak on’ in a hooded bling-bling jersey. Out of all the looks, this sportswear attire echoes Jeremy Scott’s style the most, considering his past collaboration with Adidas. The 49 number on the hoodie represents the 49th Super Bowl.

After channeling her ‘hood’ look, it was time for Katy Perry’s ‘super-glamorous Barbie extravaganza’ (in Jeremy’s terms) side. All the fashion-forward looks culminate to her final piece, a red-carpet Moschino gown, with sequined detailing and explosive fireworks jutting out from the shoulders.

Unfortunately, as much as we love these high-fashion-meet-pop-culture looks, the costumes are one-offs for Katy Perry and Katy Perry only. Take pleasure in browsing through our gallery to see some stills from the night’s show and the original sketches of the four dresses!

She’s a firework alright.
