Japan lives up to its edgy and avant garde reputation with promising up-and-coming fashion designers showcasing their intriguing collections. Here are the ones to keep an eye on!

Tokyo Fashion Week might have already closed their curtains but the season’s offerings were nothing short of spectacular. This time, the focus was clearly on menswear, with sleek futuristic cuts and wool-and-denim ensembles playing a leading role. While the usual heavyweights like Christian Dada, Curated, and Phenomenon were present and showcased their crowd-pleasing collections, there were some other up-and-coming young Japanese designers who also made a splash at this year’s show. For the unfamiliar, Tokyo is also long renowned the world over for their edgy style and avant-garde creations, so stakes are high.

Here, we’ve compiled 5 Japanese designers whose runway collections have made us sit up in our seats and take note, dutifully at that. Who knows, their collections might just be in your closet next season. And if you don’t think so, this should change your mind.
