Cannes Day 2: The fashion faux pas

On the second day of Cannes Film Festival, a few stars didn’t make our job any easier. Take a look at some of the small and big fashion flops of the day.

While writing about red carpet fashion looks of the stars, we’re usually spoilt for choice when it comes to those who nail it and achieve the ‘wow-factor’.

But regarding the looks from the 2nd day of Cannes Film Festival – our task was harder than usual…

The line between dressing ‘too much’ and donning an evening dress is sometimes very thin, and there is the inevitable slippage!

This is exactly what happened with some stars at the Cannes red carpet.

We therefore pick our top 3 ‘faux pas’ of the day – saving the best for last:

Ines de la Fressange : We love Ines! At almost 57 years, she remains a world-class figure to rival all the young starlets in the making – she could almost get away with anything, or so we thought!

The queen of style has so often dazzled us with her taste for ultra simple looks, in truth it is (slightly) disappointing with this dress. Yes, there are outfits whose simplicity highlights the beauty of the woman, but this is almost too bland. Especially with the sportysleeve, and the choice of flat sandals with a too-big ankle bracelet.

Julianne Moore: Dear Julianne  it’s not because you wear the Louis Vuitton dress that you are guaranteed to make a splash on the red carpet. The leather top is too thick and too much (or not enough cleavage) while the long skirt in black satin is too winter-y as well; We are also a bit disappointed by the beautiful redhead.

Elena Lenina, the Russian businesswoman/host/model/author, is a a strong and smart woman!
But this outfit makes us wonder what is going through your head (except for that Alien-looking double bun).
If it’s still necessary to discuss what is wrong, we would say the necklace/XXL rosary, followed closely by her hair.
This could have been a fun look but here it turns ugly. Fashion faux pas or just looking for attention?

We’ll leave you to decide…
