The military trend is rising up in ranks as the plethora of army greens and uniformed silhouettes continue to dominate runways.

It’s time to fall into a uniform single file and listen up as the military green trend continues to reign supreme for Fall/ Winter 2014. Khaki and military green have been prominently appearing on runways since a few years ago, alongside camouflage prints, and it doesn’t seem to be burning out anytime soon. This year though, the trend evolved from blatant Gregorian and Victorian inspired elements to a more refined definition of the rigidity and structure of a soldier’s uniform and the army’s general rigour.

While shotguns are not a part of the look – thank God – the recurring military trend is versatile and set to become a classic staple in any fashion-forward individual’s expansive wardrobe. The looks you could put together with this trend are endless. Team a military-esque parka or vest with casual boyfriend jeans or amp up the austere meter by channeling your inner commander voice in a khaki green A-line skirt and jacket.

However if you’re not into harking back visions of solider combat or brutal war scenarios, go through a little basic training and play the trend down by simply incorporating elements of military green through accessories – think scarves, hats and jewellery.

Essentially, there’s no need to march down the streets in full-blown combat attire or like you just stepped out from the sets of Saving Private Ryan – now that would be beating the trend to death, subtlety is key my friends.
