Dress The Part: 5 Outfits inspired by evergreen Christmas classics
updated the 8 December 2015 à 11:57If you’re stuck wondering what to wear this holiday season, take some cues from these leading ladies of Hollywood.
This year bring back the vibe of Old Hollywood by taking inspiration from outfits in some of the most iconic films.
Take for example the cult classic When Harry met Sally. Apart from the iconic scenes and dialogues, this movie went down in history and is remembered for its fashionable outfits even 25 years down. Have you been wearing high waisted shorts to death this year? In the movie, Sally Albright wore high waisted Bermuda shorts – a far cry from what we would consider fashionable today. But you have to love her for having the fashion foresight to pair them with prim button-down cardigan combos.
Many of these movies showcase the characters playing up one element of their outfit. If their dresses were glamourous, they skipped accessories. Take Rosemary Clooney from the movie The White Christmas for example. Her elegant black gown was the highlight in the scene and she completed the look with styled hair and nothing else.
Speaking of styling, this holiday season take a cue from your favourite characters and adopt their beauty styles as well. Go for old Hollywood waves in place of straight hair. If you are looking for a classic red pout to match your outfit, opt for a semi matte lipstick.
